Senior Support Worker/Team Leader/Supervisor

What is it?

Senior support workers support people with all aspects of their daily life, including social and physical activities, personal care, mobility and mealtimes. Senior support workers have more responsibility and may take on extra duties. Senior support workers can support lots of different people including adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, dementia and other mental health conditions.

Duties:

  • Talking with people about the types of activities they’d like to do
  • Organising activities that are tailored to the needs and abilities of individuals, as well as group activities that will bring individuals together
  • Booking external suppliers to provide entertainment
  • Organising trips out in the local community, considering transport arrangements and accessibility
  • Assisting people so they can take part
  • Additional supervisory responsibilities

Training:

Induction (Care Certificate), Moving and Handling, Basic First Aid, Health and Safety, Food Hygiene

Other specific knowledge training could include learning about:

  • Learning Disabilities
  • Physical Disabilities
  • Dementia
  • Other health conditions
  • Medication
