Committee Member, Birmingham Architectural Association
Simeon is a doctoral researcher in Birmingham City University, researching how young citizens engage in the planning of future 'smart' cities. He is passionate about participatory design and young people.
Simeon served as a trustee of the RIBA (2016-2019) and as a Vice-President for Students and Associates. He co-founded the RIBA Future Architects initiative, the institute’s network supporting early career professionals and is sitting on its steering committee. He also represented young planners on the RTPI General Assembly (2018-2019) and sat on the planning institute’s International Committee. Simeon is an ambassador for the Architects Benevolent Society in West Midlands and has worked to promote mental health awareness in architecture. He is an active RIBA Learning Ambassador delivering workshops in schools.
Currently, Simeon is part of the Youth Steering Committee of the youth organisation Beatfreeks in Birmingham. His professional interests sit between democracy, technology, and architecture. Simeon is an alumnus of the University of Sheffield dual Architecture and Town Planning master’s degree. He has worked for Building Design Partnership on projects in conservation, education and residential. He has co-founded and is teaching annually at a summer school in architecture for secondary school children in Bulgaria since 2016.
