Producer, Theatre Absolute

Julia Negus is the Producer for Theatre Absolute, an award-winning theatre company based in Coventry that creates collaborative performative work. Julia co-founded the Shop Front Theatre (SFT), a lo-fi theatre space in a disused fish and chip shop in Coventry City Centre. Work at the shop is rooted in community and the company have engaged with over 50,000 audience members, participants, freelance writers, artists and performers since it opened its doors in 2008.

Julia is a member of F13, which amplifies the voices of independent artists and organisations in Coventry and Warwickshire. Additionally, she was a board member for Coventry BID, and a member of the steering committee which secured Coventry as UK City of Culture 2021. Julia is also an award-winning textile artist. Works include ‘Processions’ a national project with Artichoke & 14:18 Now about the right for women to vote.

She created embroidered panels for Gloucestershire Archives’ Heritage Hub, and designed and led a team of artists to create the coat for ‘Godiva Awakes’ by Imagineer Productions for London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. Julia is a visiting lecturer/speaker at University of Warwick, and Coventry University and most recently, The Textile Society of America.
