While most of their usual activities are closed the Moat House Community Trust in Coventry have adapted their Grub Hub into a delivery service to help those most effected by the coronavirus crisis.
Supported by Sky Blues in the Community and Coventry College, they have delivered hundreds of food and essential parcels to those self-isolating or in vulnerable groups, including free school meal packages over the Easter break.
The Moat House Community Trust model centres itself on giving local families choice, which empowers them to make their own change. CEO Dianne Williams is adamant that this local service will continue to allow that to happen: "We are different to a food bank in the sense that underprivileged families can pay £3 to access the 'Grub Hub' where they can choose items of food - we pride ourselves on providing choice to families."
The Grub Hub scheme supports up to 190 families who may struggle to put food on the table. Services like this help to provide continuity and support for local families and Moat House Community Trust are continuing to reach out when it is most needed.
