Tell us about your experience as a woman in your industry and the roles that you have taken on.

I work with the construction industry to ensure that it has a skilled and qualified workforce.  I also work on social value and how the industry can become more diverse to ensure it attracts the range of talent we have across our country and in the local communities of which it serves.

In your opinion, why is it important that more women join your industry in the near future?

Having more women is about harnessing talent which will support our industry to deliver the projects we need for our local communities.  It is also about changing the culture of the industry to be more inclusive research does show mixed teams perform better- something the industry wants to embrace.

What’s the most important piece of advice you’d give to a woman thinking of starting a career in your industry?

Go for it – there are a plethora of opportunities out there, the industry encourages women and all those from diverse backgrounds to join the industry.  Once you are in the industry you will never wantto leave – it is a great place to work and an industry where you will always leave behind a legacy.
