Work has already begun on the new state of the art railway station which is set to open in Summer 2020. The work has been designed in two phases to ensure train services from City of Wolverhampton continue to operate as normal throughout the works.

The project also includes an extension of the Metro which will run with the existing system close to the current terminus at Wolverhampton St. George’s through to Wolverhampton Railway Station.

West Midlands Metro will stop at the city’s Bus Station on Pipers Row, before continuing to Wolverhampton Railway Station, allowing easy interchange with other modes of transport.

The architects have designed into the scheme a total of 150 spaces including 110 spaces designed into and within the vicinity of the cycle hub, located outside the current car park. The cycle hub will need funding to be delivered, there is no committed funding to date.
