Plant a tree and make it count at the Virtual Forest

Right Tree, Right Place is our campaign to support tree and hedge planting across our region as part of the commitment to a fairer, greener, healthier West Midlands. Green spaces are better for your health and wellbeing as well as help to improve your local environment.

It’s coming to the end of the 2022 tree planting season, so alongside our partners we are giving away hundreds of tree saplings to lucky residents across the region.  Residents can plant and nurture the trees at home to grow for future generations.

All we ask is that when you plant a tree, you make it count and log it on our Virtual Forest.

What to do with my tree?

Don’t worry if you’ve never planted or looked after a tree before as we’ve got lots of guidance and How To’s to help you along the way. Select from the three options below:

How else can I get involved?

We could only carry a limited number of trees to these events. If you missed out on getting a tree then there are other ways you can support the tree planting efforts, even if you don’t have your own private garden.

Birmingham Tree People – organise many tree planting events across the city and always welcome volunteers who wish to support them locally.

Woodlands Trust - provide free community tree packs for schools and community groups. Click the link to apply for a community tree pack.

Severn Trent - are planting 72 'Tiny Forests' as part of their support to make Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games the first ever carbon neutral Games. Their aim is to leave a lasting legacy for local communities, and they're looking for volunteers to help plant trees. Click their link to register your interest.
